No bake oat & nut bars
You can't really beat a chewy, no bake, deliciously satisfying oat bar can you? I made a batch of these on a Sunday and enjoyed them for breakfast all week. 5 ingredients and not too bad on the health front, these bars are fantastic for a quick breakfast or after lunch snack!
Do away with scales and literally just use any cup to ensure proportions are correct! I prefer the taste of toasted oats and nuts, but you can have them raw. To toast just put them on a baking tray at 160C for 15 minutes*.
*Your home will be filled with a delicious smell, irresistible to all those inside.
Ingredients:
- 1 heaped cup of pitted dates
- 1.5 cups of oats
- 1 cup of chopped mixed nuts
- 1/4 cup agave nectar (or syrup)
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
Recipe:
- Blend up the pitted dates into a smooth, rollable mixture.
- Add the dates to the oats and mixed nuts and put aside
- Next, gently heat the peanut butter and agave nectar in a saucepan until it forms a smooth mixture
- Pour the mixture into the oat/date/nut bowl and mix everything really well
- Finally, press the mixture into a loaf tin or 10x10 tin and squish down with the base of a glass to pack them together!
- Put in the freezer for 15 minutes and then cut into bars to enjoy!
Store in a tuppaware and keep in the cupboard to pick at as you wish! Enjoy!
